Students don red and blue ribbons in memory of teen brothers killed in crash

SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (WRIC) — Today students at Spotsylvania High School will wear red and blue ribbons in memory of the two teens killed in a car accident Thursday.

Brothers, 18-year-old Ian Brown and 15-year-old Jalen Brown, died after driving off the road and hitting two trees.

The brothers were students at Spotsylvania Hih School, Jalen a senior and Ian a sophomore. Counselors were on the school’s campus Thursay to help students process the news. On Twitter, students used the hashtag #uKNIGHTed to share memories of Jalen and Ian.

Classmates describe the teens as fun-loving guys who could light up a room.

“Everyone loved both of them,” said classmate Julie Cline.

“Ian didn’t go the whole day without making someone laugh,” Cline told 8 News.

Between the trees where the brothers’ vehicle crashed, friends and loved ones left gifts, crosses and flowers in tribute to Jalen and Ian. Students also held a private vigil for Jalen and Ian Thursday night on Spotsylvania High’s campus.
