RPD seek suspects in attempted bank robbery

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects who attempted to rob a bank in the city’s west end on Friday.

Shortly before 1 p.m., police responded to the Gateway Bank at 5300 Patterson Avenue for a reported attempted robbery. According to police, two suspects tried to enter the bank, but the secondary doors were closed and they were not able to get inside. One of the two suspects displayed a firearm to a bank employee in a second attempt to gain entry, which prompted the employee to call the police.

Both suspects are described as 25-30 year old black males, standing 5-foot-9 to 6-feet tall and weighing roughly 150 pounds. One suspect was wearing a black hoodie with black pants and a black and gey baseball cap. The second suspect wore black clothing with a yellow traffic vest and a black baseball cap.
