Henrico County, Va. (WRIC) —  Henrico County police have arrested a mother and son, accused of stealing from at least two elderly women.

According to police, the first incident happened at the Martins in the 10100 block of Brook Road on Wednesday at 4:41 p.m.

Police say an elderly woman was loading groceries into her vehicle, when a male approached her from behind, ordered her to bend down, then took the victim’s purse from her vehicle.

The elderly woman was not injured, but just a while after that incident was reported, police believe two suspects, 60-year-old Terry Ryder and her son Eric Moore, who is 39-year-old, used the woman’s credit card at the Target in the 11200 block of West Broad Street. Police believe they used the victim’s credit card to purchase electronics.

The following day on Thursday, police say the purse of an elderly woman was stolen while she shopped at the Kroger off Staples Mill Road in Henrico.

“The victim in this case was grocery shopping and while she was grocery shopping, at some point became diverted and she went to pay for the groceries at the end of the event and realized her purse was missing,” says Lt. Chris Eley with the Henrico County Police department.

Police say they were able to arrest the mother and son after tips came in to police. The duo were identified on Target surveillance video.

Moore has been charged with grand larceny, credit card fraud, credit card forgery, and robbery. Ryder has been charged with one count of credit card fraud.
