#8SportsBlitz Rivalry of the Week: #4 Douglas Freeman and #2 Hermitage

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Douglas Freeman Rebels are having their best season since 1980, when they went 9-0-1 and lost to Hampton in the state semifinals. It’s the first time the Rebels have been unbeaten and untied at 9-0 since 1977. Meanwhile, the Hermitage Panthers, who the Rebels play each year as part of an old Colonial District rivalry, do this just about every year.

Friday, the Rebels and Panthers will both take the field at Chester E. Fritz Stadium at 9-0. Both teams are solidly in the 5A South playoffs, and this game will help with seeding, but familiarity breeds contempt, and these teams know each other very well.
