Sherwin-Williams creates paint that reportedly kills bacteria

U.S. (KXAN) — Sherwin-Williams has created a paint it says can kill bacteria.

Germs are a major cause of infections in hospitals. “Paint Shield” claims to kill over 99.9 percent of bacteria when it is painted on walls.

The product is reportedly effective for up to four years and will be available in the U.S. in 2016.

The CDC says this kind of product would be great, but in order for it to be effective the paint must meet a lot of criteria. Additionally the paint still has a lot of tests left to pass to ensure it meets healthcare standards.
