CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WRIC) — With college basketball season right around the corner, the Virginia Cavaliers’ men’s basketball team will start out ranked sixth in the country in the first Associated Press poll.
It’s the fifth time in programs history UVa. will begin a season ranked in the Top 10.
Virginia returns three of five starters from last year’s squad, led by All-American senior guard Malcolm Brogdon, and eight of the team’s top 10 scorers who won the ACC Regular Season title before losing to North Carolina in the ACC Tournament final and exiting the NCAA Tournament in the third round to Michigan State, posting a 30-4 record.
The Cavs finished last season ranked sixth in the final AP poll, and coming into this season is ranked sixth in the USA Today coaches poll. They are picked to finish 2nd in the ACC behind the top team in the new AP Poll, North Carolina.
The Wahoos begin their season on November 13th against Morgan State at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Va.
