MONROE, Conn. (WTNH) — Owner of Monroe’s Angels and Company store, Midge Saglimbene, received a call Sunday morning that the stolen storefront statue of Jesus had not only been returned, but refreshed.

The Monroe Police Department say that the statue, roughly 5 feet tall, had gone missing sometime between Tuesday at 6:45 p.m., when it was last seen, and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, when a friend of the business had reported its absence. The statue is valued at $600.

Sunday morning, Midge received word that the statue had returned, vibrant as ever, with a fresh coat of paint. Midge tells News 8 that indeed, “Jesus has returned. No note was left, but we believe it to be the ‘Good Thief’ with good intentions, and we are grateful.”
