BB gun confiscated from J.R. Tucker High School student

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Police and school officials say they confiscated a BB gun from a John Randolph Tucker High School student Thursday.

Students are safe and there was no disruption to classes, school leaders say. Officials became aware of the incident after being notified of a potential weapon on school grounds this morning.

Henrico Police said the student in possession of the weapon was a 17-year-old male who has been referred to juvenile intake for brandishing a firearm.

Here’s the full statement school officials sent to parents:

Good afternoon Tucker High School families,

I’m writing/calling to let you know that this morning our administrative team was notified of a potential weapon on school property. We responded immediately, and with the assistance of Henrico Police, we were able to identify a student and confiscate a weapon, which turned out to be a BB gun. Our students are safe, and there was no disruption to the instructional day.

While we cannot elaborate on consequences, please be assured that we are addressing this matter very seriously. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have other questions or concerns.
