Richmond Police ID man killed in Providence Park shooting

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A mid-evening shooting on Saturday has the Richmond Police Department investigating a homicide that occurred in the Providence Park neighborhood.

At 9:21 p.m., officers were called to the 300 block of Hunt Avenue for a report of shots fired.Officers arrived and found Muhammed Abu-Bakr, 57, of the 2700 block of Delmont Avenue, unresponsive in the roadway. He was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.

According to police, forensics detectives are collecting evidence and major crimes detectives are canvassing the area for information.
