RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — More beautiful autumn weather is in store for us here in central Virginia as we head into the end part of the work week.
Look for sunshine today along with seasonable temperatures maxing out in the lower 70s. Late tonight and early Friday morning a weak cold front will move through the region which is the leading edge of some sharply cooler air that will flood in for the weekend.
I think the front has enough going on with it that it could produce a few isolated showers for the first part of your Friday but won’t last long nor impact everyone. Skies clear quickly and we see a mostly sunny day, winds change up to out of the northwest and the cooler, drier, Canadian air works in.
This weekend will feature plenty of sunshine but some of the coolest temperatures of the season so far. High pressure sets up camp overhead and keeps skies clear, daytime highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s. The combination of clear skies and calm winds during the overnight periods both Saturday, Sunday & Monday will allow for excellent radiational cooling scenarios to play out.
Some spots will likely see the first frost of the season as temperatures region wide dip into the middle to lower 30s. We slowly warm back up to around seasonal levels by the end of next week and no major storms head our way in the next week or so.
