RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A cold front is just to our west this morning and it is steadily pushing our way.
This front is limited in moisture, so we will not be looking at a rainy day, in fact we should see partly sunny skies this morning with a few sprinkles or very light showers between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and then more sunshine this afternoon. The south winds ahead of this front will help to push our high temperatures into the upper 70s to near 80. Behind the front, the winds will turn to the northwest and cooler air will slide in. We will see mainly clear skies tonight with lows in the lower 50s in town with upper 40s in outlying sections.
Wednesday and Thursday will be sunny and cooler but still pleasant for the middle of October with highs in the lower 70s.
Partly sunny skies will be with us on Friday as a cold front swing by north of Virginia. We will top out near 75 on Friday, but as that cold front swings by it will usher in a reinforcing shot of much cooler air for the weekend.
Right now, Saturday, Sunday and Monday look sunny but significantly cooler with highs in the lower to middle 60s. It is very possible that there could be some frost in our western sections by Sunday morning, but the better chance for frost across central Virginia will be by Monday morning as many of us wake up to temperatures in the middle to upper 30s.
