Hours-long standoff in Henrico ends with wanted suspect’s arrest

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — After several hours of negotiations as armed officers swarmed an apartment complex in Henrico County, a wanted suspect was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon.

Henrico Police say they received information in reference to a wanted subject located in the 5600 block of Crenshaw Road. Investigating officers determined that 27-year-old Patrick Mitchell, wanted on multiple felony warrants in New York, was in an apartment in the area. Police attempted to contact Mitchell and have him turn himself in, however Mitchell refused and attempted to mislead officers as to his identity and location.

After hours of negotiations, Mitchell was taken into custody and arrested on the outstanding warrants at approximately 2:20 p.m. He is being held without bond, pending extradition to New York.

No one was injured during the hours-long standoff.
