HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — New developments in the case against a Henrico mom who police say crashed into a West End home with her 7-year-old in the back seat.
Henrico Police say Laurissa Jarvis was drunk when she lost control of her SUV in August.
Even so, the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office dropped three DUI-related charges against her on Tuesday.
Court documents indicate Jarvis had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit and that the 37-year-old admitted to officers, “she made a mistake and had just started going to counseling for her alcoholism.”
The Henrico mom faces three felony charges for what happened after police took her into custody.
Tuesday afternoon in Henrico District Court, officers testified that Jarvis fought violently as they struggled to get her into the hospital for a blood alcohol test.
They added she had to be restrained by several officers in order to obtain her blood.
While police restrained Jarvis, she kicked two officers and bit another one on the finger.
The prosecutor in this case tells 8News that Jarvis will ultimately face those DUI-related charges in Circuit Court.
Her trial is set for early January.
