(WRIC/WABC) — Forget carving a pumpkin. How about shooting one from a cannon instead?
Farmer John Thompson from Washington state can fire a gourd as far as a mile with his homemade pumpkin cannon. Hundreds come by every year in October to see him launch a couple jack-o-lanterns into the next county.
“It’s my pride and joy, it’s very unique, there’s only one of those in the world,” Thompson said of his cannon.
The cannon is powered by pressurized air. Like most of Thompson’s farm tools and creations, it’s built mainly from spare parts.
