Local schools participate in International Walk to School Day

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Today, October 7, is International Walk to School Day!

Several Chesterfield County schools are participating in the initiative.

These schools are supported by a Safe Routes to School grant:

    • Gordon Elementary, meeting at Smoketree Pool to walk to 11701 Gordon School Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23236; school starts at 9:15 a.m.Greenfield Elementary, meeting at Greenfield Pool and Settlers Landing Pool to walk to 10751 Savoy Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23235; school starts at 9:15 a.m.
    • Swift Creek Elementary, meeting at St. Ledger’s Pool parking lot in Brandermill at 8:45 a.m. to walk to 13800 Genito Road, Midlothian, VA 23112; school starts at 9:15 a.m.
    • Clover Hill Elementary, many walking trails to 5700 Woodlake Village Parkway, Midlothian, VA 23112; school starts at 8:25 a.m.
    • Elizabeth Davis Middle, 601 Corvus Court; Chester, VA 23836; school starts at 8:25 a.m.
    • Robious Middle, 2701 Robious Crossing Drive, Midlothian, VA 23113; school starts at 8:25 a.m.

Also, Bellwood Elementary will hold its Walk to School Day on Friday, Oct. 9. Teachers, students and parents will gather at 8:30 a.m. at the 7-Eleven at 9700 Jefferson Davis Highway to walk to 9536 Dawnshire Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23237; school starts at 9:15 a.m.

Some schools in Henrico County and Richmond are also participating in today’s events.
