Cleanup continues this week after UCI Road World Championships in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — There’s a lot of cleanup to be done after the UCI Road World Championships in Richmond as barricades sit on the side of roads and some street closures still in effect.

All major roads impacted by the race reopened by 6 p.m. Sunday night. I-95 Exit 74B reopened around 6 p.m. Sunday, while I-95 Exit 74C opened around 11 p.m.

The eastbound lanes of Broad Street between 3rd Street and Governor Street are still closed. On-street parking will also be prohibited in this part of Broad Street.

Clean-up efforts will focus primarily on Governor Street, Monument Avenue, Franklin Street and Broad Street, between Belvidere and 2nd Street. Additional clean-up efforts will continue through the week. As a result, some fencing may remain in place along Monument Avenue and Franklin Street from Davis Avenue to Belvidere Street, and on-street parking will be prohibited through Tuesday, September 29.

Residents are reminded that towing is being enforced in areas posted with no parking signs.
