RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — We have a great start to the weekend on tap for us, and a great end to also. It is just the middle part that is going to be a problem!
First, the good news for tonight as we will start with clear skies for the high school football games before clouds arrive overnight. Lows will be in the middle 60s.
Saturday a storm system sill travel from SW to NE through the state and that means unsettled weather for us. Skies will be partly sunny and showers will start to develop to the west of the area. Highs will warm up into the upper 70s west and the lower 80s east. Those showers will move into Central Virginia the afternoon hour and last until at least mid evening. So the forecast for the UVA-Notre Dame game at 3:30 (seen right here on TV-8) and the NASCAR race at RIR Saturday evening are both unfavorable.
The good news is that this storm will be gone by early Sunday, and we should end up with a Sunday that turns out being mostly sunny. It will be a little breezy and highs will be in the upper 70s. NASCAR fans, make your brunch reservations early since if they cancel the race Sunday night, the conditions will be fine for Sunday.
An extended period of dry weather is on tap for next week. Lots of sunshine with highs in the 70s early warming to the middle 80s by the end of the week when the UCI Cyclists hit town!
