RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — What little rain we did see today stayed well south of Richmond, and even south of the Tri-Cities. As we head into the late evening hours we’ll see partly to mostly clear skies (clearer skies the farther north and west you are) with a low of 68. It will be muggy this evening.
The week ahead is a busy one! Labor Day, back to school, AND NASCAR!
Tomorrow for Labor Day the forecast looks great. We’ve got mostly sunny skies in the works with a high of 89. Enjoy that last unofficial day of summer!
Tuesday is back to school for most, and you’ll need the shorts for sure. We’ll see sunny skies Tuesday with highs topping out near 90.
Wednesday starts mostly sunny but a cold front currently getting itself together in the western Great Lakes will head toward us bringing rain chances starting in the late afternoon. Highs Wednesday will be in the low 90s.
Thursday looks like it will feature a few showers, but we’ll still be ahead of the cold front, so no relief from the heat yet…highs near 90.
Friday we’ll see a few showers and thunderstorms and our day of relief with highs in the mid 80s. The Friday night NASCAR race (VA529 College Savings 250) doesn’t look like a washout, but the forecast should be watched closely.
A good update for Saturday’s race, the Federated Auto Parts 400, it now looks dry. Previous forecasts looked to stall that cold front on top of us, but it looks like it will clear and not only bring us dry skies, but mostly sunny skies! Highs are in the middle 80s. Doesn’t get much better than that!
