RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — We’re less than three weeks from the UCI Road World Championships in Richmond and the city is putting the finishing touches on its plans.
If you live or drive in the City of Richmond, there are some road closures that may affect your commute later today.
On East Broad Street between 7th and 4th Streets, there will be alternating lane closures Monday starting at 7 p.m. and lasting until 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Workers are removing markings on the pavement for the race.
Other roads have already been repaved to get ready for the UCI Road World Championships. Extra parking has also been added and some traffic patterns have changed.
The city is expecting about 450,000 people to come watch the race, along with about a thousand athletes from all over the world.
