(WRIC) — After a few morning showers and clouds it turned out to be a gorgeous day here across central Virginia! Clear skies will be the trend overnight tonight allowing temperatures to fall into the lower to middle 60s, so excellent sleeping weather!
More sunshine and low humidity on the way for your Wednesday as high pressure builds in from the west and remaining in control of our weather through the upcoming weekend. Expect temperatures to stay at or below average right into the weekend, humidity will eventually start to increase as we head into the weekend. By the second half of the weekend we can expect to see an increased risk for showers and thunderstorms as a wave of energy develops and tracks along the coast.
Tropical Storm Erika remains a tropical storm with little change in its strength over the past 12 hours. Little strengthening expected in the coming days but conditions will be conducive for eventual strengthening to a category 1 hurricane by the weekend. The current forecast track takes it into the Caribbean by early next week.
