RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — An area of clouds, showers and thunderstorms moving up from the Carolinas into western Virginia will slowly push east today bringing us the chance for rain and thunderstorms.
We will have some early morning sunshine before the clouds begin to increase and thicken with some showers and thunderstorms developing around noon to 2 p.m. We will keep the risk for showers and thunderstorms for this evening and tonight. Even though we will have clouds moving into central Virginia it will still be a hot and humid day with highs ranging from 85 to 90. It will be muggy tonight with the risk of showers and a few rumbles of thunder with lows in the lower 70s.
Wednesday will be mainly cloudy with some off and on showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures on Wednesday will be in the middle 80s.
As that area of clouds and showers moves out, a cold front will push into the region on Thursday. Ahead of the cold front we will have partly sunny skies and it will be hot and humid with highs around 90. By Thursday afternoon showers and thunderstorms will develop across central Virginia. Some of those thunderstorms could produce some locally heavy rainfall.
Great weather will arrive for Friday and the upcoming weekend with sunny to partly sunny skies for Friday, Saturday and Sunday with highs in the middle 80s and much lower humidity.
