RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Wednesday, the Diamond saw a major announcement as the Flying Squirrels and Richmond International Raceway revealed their partnership with The Barton Malow foundation and plans for the upcoming RVA Field of Dreams Fest.
Come October 2, Richmonders will have a chance to kick back and unwind at the Diamond with local craft beers, food and live music, while supporting a good cause.
Todd “Parney” Parnell, COO of The Flying Squirrels says,”Barton Malow’s stepping forward, this is their deal you know, they wanted to put it on. They chose Flying Squirrels charities and RIR Cares, and the fact that we have such an unbelieveabley close relationship with Richmond International Raceway made it really a seamless transition.”
RIR President, David Bickmeier says,”The biggest part is to get three organizations like that to come together to put on an event where a number of charities are going to benefit. That’s the main reason for kind of getting together.”
The proceeds from each ticket sale will go to benefit inner city youth baseball and STEM learning opportunities.
Barton Malow Director, Mike Vansickel tells us, “The goal would be $100k, but a lot of that’s dependent upon ticket sales. We’ve secured enough sponsors to offset the cost of it. So, right now we’re just looking fort the community to come out and enjoy some great beer, great music and give back a little bit.”
Early bird tickets are on sale now for $30.00 online at http://www.rvafieldofdreamsfest.com/#!tickets/cq53.
