RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Mark your calendars: Hardywood Brewery’s Gingerbread Stout will be released on November 7 this year. It’s the favorite locally made brew among Richmond Magazine readers.
Some stand in line for hours to get a sip of the imperial milk stout brewed with local ginger and honey.
And Richmonders aren’t the only ones who’ve noticed how good it is. Gingerbread Stout earned a perfect 100 percent score from Beer Advocate.
Needless to say, Hardywood is beaming with pride.
“For us it was kind of, ‘what if we could create a gingerbread cookie in a beer?’ and I think we have done that pretty well,” said Eric McKay, co-owner of the brewery along with Patrick Murtaugh. “And I think people have memories and all warm and fuzzy feelings around the holidays that kind of connect with that flavor.”
