The Best of Richmond 2015: Best Barber

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — What’s the best way to top off a good outfit? A good haircut.

The city’s best barber shop is still pretty new, but it’s already generating a lot of buzz.

The new boys on the block – Elliot Kinney and David Foster – are owners of High Point Barber Shop and Shave Parlor, voted Best Barber by Richmond Magazine readers.

“I think we’re about as authentic as it gets and I think people can recognize that and appreciate it,” Foster said.

The shop has been around for less than a year, but it’s already sweeping the competition. All the makings of a classic shop, but these guys are snipping and clipping contemporary cuts; staying true to their own style.

“We add a little modern edge by making them a little tighter, making them a little bit edgier,” Kinney said.

So many are drawn to the new shop that you’ll need an appointment to slide into one of the chairs. Their diehard clients don’t seem to mind, though.

“It’s worth the wait,” said Nick Barnett. “You’re going to get in and you’re going to like what you get.”

Sure, these guys will get you groomed. But for them, it’s about so much more.

“Repeat clients they’re just like friends, you know? That’s pretty much the coolest.”

“We couldn’t have written it down in a storybook better than it has been.”

It’s that time of year again when we team up with Richmond Magazine to feature some of the people, places and businesses that you voted “The Best of Richmond.”
