Arrest made in Hopewell shooting that left four injured

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — Hopewell Police have made an arrest in the shooting incident that left four people injured last weekend.

William Timothy Faust of Hopewell has been charged and arrested for aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and brandishing a firearm after injuring four people with a single shotgun blast.

Shortly after midnight on Saturday, July 25, police responded to a shooting in the 500 block of North 7th Avenue where a crowd of people were gathered near a sidewalk. Officers found four people struck by pellets from a shotgun. All four were treated for non-life threatening injuries at local hospitals.

The incident began as a verbal altercation that turned physical. Faust then retrieved a shotgun and discharged a single round that struck the four victims.

The initial report that the victims were shot by an unknown offender from inside a vehicle was not accurate.
