AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WRIC/WSET) — A partial skull found in Amherst County in May and has now been handed off to the Medical Examiner of Roanoke.
A couple from the area found the piece of the skull in the James River in May, according to the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office. Just this week, investigators executed a search warrant and seized the partial remains after an acquaintance of the couple notified authorities.
Right now, investigators do not know how long the skull was in the James. There has not been an identity released as of yet.
The Medical Examiner will examine the skull.
