RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Great news: it’s not Monday! Showers and thunderstorms that developed yesterday evening are long gone, but thanks to the heavy downpours, high dew points and clear skies we have some areas of dense fog that have developed and continue to thicken as we head into the morning hours.
That fog will lift by 9 a.m. and we can expect partly sunny skies today, hot and humid conditions with highs near 90. Heading into the afternoon hours I expect to see more showers and thunderstorms pop up across the region with heavy downpours, frequent lightning and gusty winds.
The sticky conditions stay with us through the end of the week as high pressure remains anchored offshore which will continue to pump in the tropical-like conditions from the southwest.
By Thursday a cold front will head our way, this will fire up more storms Thursday night into Friday morning but it will bring a break from the humid conditions as well by the time we get the weekend started.
Have a great day!
