RICHMOND – The University of Richmond has indefinitely suspended the recognition of its Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) fraternity.
The suspension comes after a lengthy investigation into what the university calls “repeated incidents that violated the University’s policies and risk management procedures.”
The fraternity was suspended by its national headquarters back in April following an off-campus incident that resulted in injuries to two women. According to published reports, those women were hurt when they fell from a balcony at the Wintergreen ski resort during an SAE getaway.
Six fraternity members were expelled from the chapter as a result of the incident.
The university’s suspension of SAE is effective immediately.
