Hulk Hogan fired over alleged racist comments

(MEDIA GENERAL) – Wrestling fans around the world were scratching their heads late Thursday night, as news reports surfaced that World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. had erased nearly all references of famous grappler Hulk Hogan from its web site.

Friday morning, it appears we know why. News reports have come down stating the National Enquirer is set to release an audio recording of Terry Bollea, known commonly by his famous wrestling moniker, making racist comments.

A report from said the tape was discovered during Hogan’s pending lawsuit with Gawker Media. The tape allegedly was sold to the National Enquirer for an undisclosed amount of money.

On the tape, he allegedly repeatedly uses the n-word and posits that if his daughter, Brooke, “was going to (have sex with) some (n-word), I’d rather have her marry an 8-foot-tall (n-word) worth a hundred million dollars! Like a basketball player!”

Hogan has limited his public response to a cryptic tweet posted early Friday morning.

WWE has confirmed it has terminated its contract with Hogan.

WWE said in a statement: “WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan). WWE is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide.”
