RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A company official has confirmed to 8News that employees were notified today of layoffs at the banking company.
There’s no word yet on how many employees will be losing their job in the Richmond area.
We’re told the layoffs are part of the company’s efforts to transform is tech organization. The company sent 8News the following statement:
“We are transforming our Tech organization with a focus on engineering and simplifying the way we work.
Today, we notified associates whose roles are impacted by this effort.
We’re committed to helping those impacted by the decision through the transition.
Associates are being given at least 60 days’ notice.
We are providing extensive resources to assist them.
Associates have the opportunity to apply for other Capital One roles for which they are qualified.”
Capital One reported a profit of $863 million for the second quarter, but the company is down from $1.2 billion a year earlier.
