HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — Police in Hopewell have arrested a man for a homicide dating back to December 2014.
Today, police arrested 23-year-old Joseph Emmanuel Crews, of Petersburg, for the murder of 22-year-old Treon Marquise Ellis of Hopewell. He’s charged with first degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and tampering with evidence. Crews is being held at Riverside Regional Jail with no bond.

Police say Crews was an acquaintance of the victim in this case. Detectives are hoping Crews’ arrest may prompt others with information about this murder to come forward.
“A steady and relentless investigation by all the officers involved led to the arrest of this offender,” said Lt. Damon Stoker with Hopewell Police. “Most of all, we hope the arrest will allow the family of Treon Ellis some measure of comfort.”
