ALPHARETTA, Ga. (WISH/WRIC) — Two dogs hugging it out were captured in a photo by staff members at a Georgia pet rescue. That photo later helped save the dogs from euthanasia.
The post of the hugging pups — a black and white boxer mix named Keira and Kala, a puppy-faced brown pooch desperately clinging to each other with sad faces — went online Monday. The group was desperate to get the pair adopted to a forever family as they were scheduled to be put to sleep within hours.
This is as urgent as urgent can get. We really don’t have time to spare. We have no fosters available. Animals in need have overwhelmed us recently and we must have someone today apply to foster,” the shelter’s post on Facebook read.
The picture got tons of attention online. More importantly, though, it inspired someone to step up and do more than just ‘like’ or ‘share’ the post.
The group posted a follow up post saying “They are safe” and thanked everyone for their support and donations.
