RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — WHEW! Talk about a sauna! Heat index values are running from about 100-105° right now—dangerous heat!
A few isolated yet strong storms have developed but will diminish after sunset. Tonight will be partly cloudy but exceptionally muggy, with a low of 75. Winds are light and out of the southwest.
Tomorrow brings partly cloudy skies and isolated afternoon thunderstorms. We have a marginal risk for severe storms tomorrow, so some could be on the stronger side. Highs tomorrow will be in the mid 90s but it will feel like triple digits again.
Tuesday a cold front will slowly move through the area, but we’ll squeeze one more hot day out of it. Tuesday’s high is 96 degrees with isolated storms becoming more widespread later in the day as a strong cold front passes. Strong storms again possible, especially as the front passes.
Behind it we’ll see clearing and near immediate relief from both the heat and humidity on Wednesday. Dew points drop almost immediately bringing in a much drier airmass. Wednesday looks sunny, with a high of 88 and much lower humidity.
Thursday through Saturday as of now look to be mainly sunny and dry, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s each day. Storm chances return for the weekend.
