Woman attacked at Caroline County gas station; suspect on the loose

CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Police are searching for the suspect who assaulted a woman as she pumped gas early Wednesday morning in Carmel Church.

The suspect was described as a black man in his early to mid-30s, five feet-eight to five feet-ten with short hair and clean shaven, according to the Caroline County Sheriff’s Major Scott Moser. He was wearing a black t-shirt tan shorts and ankle high boots.

Authorities say the woman was at the Exxon Station on Rogers Clark Boulevard and Welcome Way when the suspect approached her and began to assault her.

Moser says it’s not clear what the man’s intent was, whether to kidnap the woman or to carjack her vehicle.

She was able to fight off the suspect and ran into woods behind the station.

Investigators are reviewing video tape form the gas station.
