Shooting outside Waffle House in Hopewell leaves 1 woman injured

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — A 25-year-old woman was shot outside of a Waffle House in Hopewell early Thursday morning.

Officers were close by a large crowd outside the Waffle House at 5105 Plaza Drive after 2:00 a.m. when shots rang out. After the shots were fired, the crowd quickly dispersed. Officers were unable to determine who had the weapon.

A 25-year-old female walking into the restaurant was struck by a bullet in her left lower leg. She was transported to John Randolph Medical Center. Her injuries are said to be non-life threatening.

A suspect has yet to be identified.

Authorities say the shooting is still under investigation.
