HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Henrico County’s Chief Magistrate Yvette Via was arraigned for allegedly assaulting her husband.
On Friday, it’s his turn. Via’s husband Eddie is now charged with assaulting her.
The domestic drama unfolded almost a week ago when Via called police to report her husband had assaulted her in the couple’s Henrico County home.
According to a criminal complaint, Via admitted to pushing her husband and punching him in the face.
Now Via contends it’s Eddie who should be charged.
In her petition for a protective order against her husband, Via writes that Eddie assaulted both herself and her 15-year-old daughter.
She adds that since then, her husband’s “behavior has been erratic and threatening” with phone messages and texts that go from “loving and conciliatory” to “paranoid, accusing and angry.”
The couple, who’ve been married just shy of three years, have been ordered not to have contact with each other.
Calls to the magistrate’s office weren’t returned, but we did find her husband Eddie.
He told us he did not assault his wife and stepdaughter.
8News has confirmed that both Via’s have a history of domestic disputes.
Eddie Via served time in jail back in 1998 for assault.
Yvette Via was publicly reprimanded by the Virginia State Bar in 2007 for misconduct following a contentious divorce.
We’ve not been able to confirm if she’s still on the bench while this case is pending against her.
