Find shade & drink water: Temps to be in the mid-90s for the next couple of days

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — We will see sunny skies to day and it will be hot and humid with highs approaching 95 in many areas.

Try to find some shade to stay cool when working outside and drink plenty of water, as the heat index could push to near 100 degrees today. Our skies will be clear tonight and it will be very muggy with lows in the lower to middle 70s. A cold front will approach central Virginia tomorrow from the Ohio Valley. Ahead of that front, we will have partly sunny skies with highs in the middle 90s, but as that front pushes through we will see thunderstorms develop in the late afternoon and evening. Some of those storms could have heavy downpours and gusty winds. The best time frame for those thunderstorms will be between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.

It will be very hot again on Thursday with highs in the middle 90s under partly sunny skies. There is a chance for some late day thunderstorms.

Friday will be another hot day with highs in the lower 90s under partly sunny skies. Look for a thunderstorm or two in the late afternoon, once again.
