RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A dog who narrowly escaped a brush with death is in need of your help.
‘Lucky Penny’ is lucky to have survived according to Dr. Paul Howard with the Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center, who’s nursing her back to health after she was hit by a train and found Monday morning.
Howard says,”She had sustained a traumatic amputation of her right rear leg and a traumatic amputation of her tail.”
He says, ‘Lucky Penny’ seemed to be in good spirits, considering all she’d gone through For now, she’s being kept comfortable with pain killers and is set to have surgery tomorrow, but the price of care isn’t cheap.
“In the big scheme of things here, it’s probably going to be between $3,000 and $4,000 before she’s out of the hospital,” explained Howard.
To help offset the cost of ‘Lucky Penny’s’ medical bills, Richmond Animal Care and Control is asking for donations.
