Former local high school basketball stars hold camp

CHESTER, Va. (WRIC) — Dozens of seven- to sixteen-year-olds got to learn basketball skills and hear advice from some of the best local players the Richmond area has ever seen.

The Del Harris Basketball Academy included former Manchester Lancer Anthony Ervin, former Highland Springs state champ Jarvis Threatt, and former George Wythe Bulldog Tyree Evans. The most accomplished of the RVA alumni was Tyrese Rice, who had an All-ACC career at Boston College before taking his game overseas.

Rice starred at L.C. Bird in the mid-2000s before going to BC. Since leaving Chestnut Hill, he’s played in Israel and Russia, and he won a EuroLeague title with Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2014, playing for current Cleveland Cavaliers’ Head Coach David Blatt. Rice was named MVP of the Final Four.
