State Police identify teen killed in Amelia crash Sunday

AMELIA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash in Amelia County this morning.

Authorities say the crash happened at 11:40 p.m. Sunday on Route 616, approximately 200 feet west of Route 632.

A 1996 Geo Prism was traveling west on Route 616 when it ran off the left side of the road and struck the ditch. The car then overturned.

The driver, 17-year-old D’ajah K. Braxton-Hicks of Amelia, died at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
