Wrestling legend “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes passes away at 69

(WRIC) — Virgil Runnels, famously known as WWE superstar “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, passed away on Thursday. He was 69.

Runnels, who rocked polka dot tights throughout his legendary career, was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007. He leaves behind four children, including two sons who also became wrestling superstars: Goldust (Dustin Runnels) and Stardust (Cody Runnels).

The WWE issued a statement saying, “WWE extends its sincerest condolences to Runnels’ family, friends and colleagues.”

WWE superstar Triple H posted on Twitter about the passing of his friend, saying he was “saddened to hear the passing of Dusty Rhodes.”
