An investigation revealed that a 1992 Toyota Camry was traveling eastbound in the west bound lanes of I-64 when it struck a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche head on.
The driver of the 1992 Toyota, 24-year-old Katrina N. Chambers of Charlottesville, died at the scene. The two occupants of the other vehicle were transported to UVA hospital with serious injuries. No update on their condition has been given.
A second crash happened about 45 minutes later, involving three tractor-trailers and a car. No injuries were reported, but one tractor trailer was overturned and debris were spread all over the road.
