Teen injured in overnight shooting in Spotsylvania Co.

SPOTSYLVANIA CO., Va. (WRIC) — The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an overnight shooting that left a 17-year-old injured.

At roughly 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, deputies responded to a residence in the 5000 block of Blarney Street in the Chancellor Green subdivision for a report of a shooting.

First arriving officers found a 17-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to Mary Washington Hospital in critical, but stable condition.

Detectives and the Sheriff’s Office Forensic Unit have been on scene at the most of the day collecting evidence.

A preliminary investigation revealed drug activity and multiple firearms found throughout the home discarded on the floor.

Detectives said that their investigation in ongoing and the only suspect description provided to police was a black male wearing a mask.
