‘Good Samaritan’ rescues Chesterfield teen from fiery crash

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WRIC) — A man is being called a ‘good Samaritan’ after saving a Chesterfield teenager from an accident scene, saving his life. 17-year old Scott Swindell became unconscious in a fiery crash on June 9.

Patton Stone saw the teen’s pickup truck engulfed in flames along Beach Road in Chesterfield County as he drove home. Stone pulled over and rescued Swindell by pulling him out through a window. According to Stone, he was able to get the boy out in the nick of time.

“Less than a minute after we pulled him out, the whole truck went up in flames,” said Stone.

The teenager’s sister said the family is grateful for Stone’s act of bravery, calling him a ‘guardian angel.’ As Swindell recovers, his family is already making plans to reunite him with the man who saved his life.
