RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A long period of warm and humid weather is setting up over the area as an upper level ridge will become established over the southeast as we head into the end of the week. We will be right at the very northern edge of this heat ridge, so that is going to set us up for storms to occasionally pass by just to our north and maybe slip down into our area.
Tonight will be fair with an overnight low around 70.
Thursday will be mostly sunny with highs in the in the lower to middle 90s.
Friday through Sunday will be partly cloudy with isolated late afternoon thunderstorms. Friday and Sunday look to be the best bets for those to happen. Highs will be in the lower to middle 90s over the area.
Early next week we see that upper level ridge flatten out a little bit in the area. This will bring us partly cloudy skies over the area with the risk of showers and thunderstorms each day. Highs will be in the upper 80s and the lower 90s.
It is a very typical early summer pattern for us.
