CORAL GABLES, Fla. (WRIC) — While Richmond experienced cool, rainy weather Thursday the VCU Rams stepped into the sauna that is South Florida to prepare for their first ever NCAA Super Regional.
VCU will take on the Miami Hurricanes at noon on Friday. Thursday was a practice day, and Head Coach Shawn Stiffler used the practice not only to loosen his guys up but to acclimate them to the heat and humidity of Miami.
Often baseball players will practice in shorts and t-shirts, but the Rams hit Mark Light Field in long baseball pants and jerseys to see how it will feel come game time.
Chip Brierre reports the players are used to humidity because Richmond has plenty of it, and Coach Stiffler pointed out that baseball is played in the summer and that type of weather is part of the deal.
