RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Improving weather is on the way for the weekend, with a slight risk of showers, while hot weather is on tap for the start of next week.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy with some fog overnight as lows remain in the lower 60s.
Saturday will turn out partly sunny. Upper level energy and a weak cold front will pass through the area during the day sparking off isolated showers and thunderstorms. The time of this front is such that after the early afternoon hours, much of Virginia north of the James River could be dry. Highs will be in the upper 70s and the lower 80s.
Sunday will be partly cloudy and very night for us as highs reach 80.
Starting Monday it will get to be rather warm for next week. Highs will jump into the mid to upper 80s over the region. A cold front will approach Monday night into Tuesday with a chance for showers and thunderstorms.
On Tuesday, the front will push to the south of the area, with thunderstorms around. Highs will be around 90.
Wednesday and Thursday will be mainly sunny and hot with highs near 90.
8News experts do see signs of unsettled weather making a return to the area at the end of next week, which could end us with a return to rainy weather.
