RICHMOND, Va (WRIC) — Police say property crimes are up to 243 percent while violent crimes are down 17 percent for the year.
On Tuesday, police spent more than an hour walking through Creighton Court and listening to concerned residents. They say they have received calls asking for a stronger presence in the area as breaking-and-entering reports spike.
Police say with summer right around the corner, the risk of burglary and theft increases because people are leaving their doors and windows open and leaving things in their cars out in the open. They hope walk-throughs will help reduce crimes and help solve them better.
