ARLINGTON, Va. (WRIC) — The Rams showed power, resolve, swagger, confidence, etc…

For the eleventh straight game, VCU’s offense stood out to grab the school’s first conference baseball championship, defeating Rhode Island for a second consecutive game 5 – 3.

Former Varina High School star Daniel Carpenter pushed a two RBI triple into right field in the bottom of the fifth. He was named A-10 Tournament MVP for plating 10 runs from the batter’s box in four games at Barcroft Park.

Rhode Island would tie the game at three in the top of the seventh inning, VCU responded in kind in the eight off a James Bunn RBI single, then scoring from third on a passed ball to make it a two run lead once again.

The play that everybody will remember from the 2015 A-10 Championship game, Logan Farrar’s diving catch in left center field with the tip of his glove for the final out in the top of the ninth inning to punch VCU’s ticket to the NCAA Tournament, first time since 2010.

The NCAA Selection Show will take place Monday.
