Squirrels leave runners on base, fall to Bowie 3-2

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Flying Squirrels stranded 11 runners on base Saturday and gave up a two run HR in the sixth inning, all culminating in a frustrating loss to the Bowie Baysox 3 – 2.

Chris Stratton pitched well through five innings, only one hit, no earned runs. Top of the sixth, a runner on third, Stratton gave up the go ahead HR to Sean Halton giving Bowie a two run lead.

The mistake cost Stratton his fifth straight loss of the season, still winless in eight starts

The Flying Squirrels also were 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position, s glaring reason Richmond couldn’t overcome the mid-game strike from the Baysox.

The Western Division rivalry series continues Sunday at 1:35 pm.
